Now that GitHub has become the primary source for releases, it would be helpful — and greatly appreciated — if some form of integrity verification could be added to each release. Specifically:

1. A published SHA-256 or SHA-512 hash for each APK, and/or
2. A clear confirmation that all APKs are signed with the original Play Store signing key (possibly with the cert fingerprint),
3. Optionally, a PGP signature for those who rely on cryptographic verification.

This would enable users to verify the authenticity and integrity of the APKs using standard tools like sha256sum or apksigner verify, especially in environments where tampering is a real risk. Even a short note in the release description explaining how to confirm the APK’s signature would go a long way toward building trust in the distribution channel.

These small steps can significantly enhance user safety, particularly in contexts like ours where V2rayNG plays a vital role in secure communication.

How do the devs plan to overcome this as Google may disable the ability to sideload v2rayNG if the app developers are not verified.

I completely understand the risks of this information being public for the Chinese government to see who the real identities of the various app devs are behind projects like v2rayNG etc.

However if Android is going to block the sideloading of apps because devs aren't verified, how are users going to be able to install and use v2rayNG going forward when Google implements this new policy?

Looks like a catch 22 situation.

We would need to see how it is implemented.

According to the article:

Google plans to create a streamlined Android Developer Console, which devs will use if they plan to distribute apps outside of the Play Store.

It looks like it won't just affect Google play store, but also apps installed from any other location, including here from Github. So it could be maybe an OS level update, or from the Android SDK for development. It is a rather concerning change from Google.

I am sure the Android community will find work-arounds to it though.

Ok, why this app is not in F-droid?
Im not really familiar with F-droid verification process but I think it would easier to manage the app via a package manager (like google play, F-droid) instead of check the GitHub for new version and update it manually

That's a good question, i would like to download from F-Droid too. By the way, for now, you can update the app through Obtanium.
