ProtonUp-Qt launching and crashing instantly

Hello, I'm new to linux in general and I've been trying to run protonup to download proton-ge afterwards. I have downloaded the AppImage and executed it with a software called AppImageLauncher that I had found on reddit. As I mentioned in the title, when I try to open it, it closes instantly. I see the icon in my taskbar for not even a split second and it disappears. Using Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS.

Any recommendations as to what I should do to fix this?
