autorestart file not found with 3.22.0

Hi community

I followed the IBC guide to install it on my Raspberry Pi 4B. Everything worked until I tried to start the IB Gateway.
The complete log file is attached here ibc-3.22.0_GATEWAY-1038_Friday.txt.

I installed the Gateway with this guide https://nemozny.github.io/ibgateway-raspberry-64/. I understood that I have to install either the Gateway or TWS, so I installed only the Gateway.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem is?

Sorry for the delay in responding.

This problem is nothing to do with the message 'autorestart file not found'. That is not an error message. It's a statement of fact. IBC behaves differently depening on whether the auotorestart file exists. If it is found, IBC passes it to the JVM and TWS/Gateway continue the previous login session without requiring authentication.

I haven't yet got round to installing IBC on the Pi 5 that I acquired at the start of the year, so I'm not in a position to advise on this.

I just noticed that you haven't got

JAVA_PATH=/usr/lib/jvm/bellsoft-java11-full-aarch64/bin

in your start script.

As the Guide that you used makes clear, this is vital. I hope this will help.

Thanks for your response. I followed the guide and I configured the JAVA_PATH. My gatewaystart.sh looks like this:

I don't know why the gateway doesn't start. I saw in your suggested thread that someone managed to get it working with the same guide I followed as well. I messaged him directly and I'm waiting for a response.

In case you manage to find time and try it on your Raspberry I happy to hear your experience.

Ok, I'm somewhat puzzled. The logfile you sent has

--java-path =

at line 20, and that's what is passed down from gatewaystart.sh, so that made me think you hadn't set it.

But then on line 36 it shows the correct location for the Java executable.. The only other way it can pick this up is from the inst_jre.cfg or pref_jre.cfg files in the .install4j folder, which are set by the Gateway installer and refer to the bundled JRE included in the installer.

So it's all rather odd...

Anyway, I'm fairly sure that what you're observing is a JavaFX problem: the Gateway and TWS login forms both use JavaFX, and if it isn't configured properly, it throws an exception that is caught by IBC just after logging the 'Starting Gateway' message.

My suspicion is that the Java command at line 41 of the log might need some adjustment. However, that's about as far as I can go.

I will try to set up my Pi soon. It's been sitting there on my desk quietly amusing itself doing nothing for more than six months. I don't actually want to run TWS/Gateway on it for real, but I feel I ought to know how to get it working.

I'm sure a documentation would be more then helpful for the community as well.

I certainly need to add a section to the User Guide to cover installing on RaspBerry Pi. If you're willing to provide a draft as a starting point, I'd be grateful. I can then revise it for editorial consistency and include it in the Guide.

I think this probably needs to be a dedicated section in the Guide rather than just part of the generall installation stuff, as it's so much more involved, but linked from them.

I notice that Bellosft provides an apt package for their Java, and we should probably recommend installing from that rather than the manual-download-and-install technique in the guide we followed.

As usual for me, I encountered a few of the annoying Linux friction poionts that always throw me (I don't use Linux enough to get used to these), such as 'Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified' when trying to run a gui app under sudo. This sort of thing drives me nuts, but i suggest we don't refer to them unless it's really necessary, as they are just part of the learning curve with Linux. There were several others but I don't recall them now (should have written it all down of course...)

I need to first get it working on my machine. After I manage to start it successfully I can start with the guide.

I wrote a first draft to install it from scratch, it's in the attachments.
I covered the whole installation process including using Bellsoft apt package and excluding IBC setup.

Can you try to follow this guide and give feedback if its clear enough or contains any errors? You can adjust and improve the guide of course.
