Fabricland College Insights Dashboard

๐Ÿ“– Story

In the magical realm of Fabricland, young wizards and heroes are preparing to choose their future colleges.
But thereโ€™s a problem โ€” a long, confusing list of colleges with scattered information.
The High Council of Education has turned to data wizards (thatโ€™s the participants!) to bring order to chaos.

๐ŸŽฏ Mission

Craft an insightful and visually captivating Power BI report that helps the next generation of Fabriclandโ€™s students make wise, data-driven choices about where to study, grow, and launch their magical careers.

โœจ My Storytelling & Dashboard Creation Process

I began by exploring the dataset and imagining myself as a student โ€” thinking about what Iโ€™d want to see first.
Naturally, Iโ€™d look for top colleges and programs, then check tuition costs to see what fits my budget.
If it fits, Iโ€™d explore further; if not, Iโ€™d filter by other preferences.
My dashboard is built entirely around this simple and logical flow.

๐Ÿฐ 1. College Info Page

This page gives an overview of colleges in Fabricland.
Users can filter by major, kingdom, campus type, or difficulty to explore their preferences.

๐Ÿ”น Key Features:

  • Bar charts to compare tuition fees, student support, and facilities
  • Column charts highlighting top majors by popularity
  • Comparison table summarizing tuition, scholarships, and ratings

๐Ÿ“˜ 2. Program Details Page

This page focuses on program-level insights such as popularity, graduation rate, and enrollment trends.

๐Ÿ”น Key Features:

  • Detailed table including duration, difficulty, and possible career paths
  • Slicers and navigation buttons for smooth exploration
  • Clear filters for a user-friendly experience

๐Ÿงฉ Tools & Approach

I worked entirely in Power BI Desktop using a prepared student dataset โ€” focusing mainly on design and interactivity rather than heavy data cleaning or DAX.

๐Ÿ”น Techniques and Tools Used:

  • Custom color palettes inspired by a magical theme
  • Tables, matrix visuals, bar charts, slicers, and buttons for intuitive navigation
  • Conditional formatting to highlight key insights
  • Canvas interaction management for a clean and engaging user experience
