unclear how to run it for gdrive

Hi,

I was trying to make it run on ubuntu, it by default opens browser window with dropbox. However there's no dropbox in .syncd-rules.json. Also I've seen -p option it worth to document it unless it's a dev option.
Could you reveal how to run syncd with gdrive.

Hello, it's great to hear that you are using this. Please grab the latest ubuntu package, and give it a whirl, as I fixed a few issues. one thing you will need to do is change your fs:// to file:// for the new release.

Please also note that Gdrive isn't fully working at this time. It does pull down your files, but there are some issues with synchronization.

also the -p option is primarily to allow us to work on windows where we cannot fork. I could document it if people find it useful.

I am still working on documentation, as this is my senior project, but as of the latest release (after you asked the question) the best way to add google drive is to install the latest code, and run the following commands

mkdir -p "/home/denz/Google Drive"                    # create the folder if it doesn't exist.
syncd-add "gdrive:///" "fs:///home/denz/Google Drive" # add the rules.
syncd                                                 # start syncing.

optionally if you want to see what's happening, the log messages have been moved to $HOME/.config/syncd/log.txt
feel free to tail that to get a sense of what it is doing. You should, however see your directory begin to fill up rather quickly.

The newest build fixed that issue #8. Now it only opens plugins that you have a rule for.

Hi Paul, I've tested the 0.9 version of deb.
Here's the feedback, the most important found issues are:

1. On a "bare and just a base" debian system depends:
   Requires the installation of the following packages: krb5-locales libasn1-8-heimdal libcurl3 libgssapi-krb5-2 libgssapi3-heimdal libhcrypto4-heimdal libheimbase1-heimdal libheimntlm0-heimdal libhx509-5-heimdal libk5crypto3 libkeyutils1 libkrb5-26-heimdal libkrb5-3 libkrb5support0 libldap-2.4-2 libroken18-heimdal librtmp0 libsasl2-2 libsasl2-modules libsasl2-modules-db libwind0-heimdal

However libltdl7 package missing:
syncd: error while loading shared libraries: libltdl.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

2. Without .config dir, seems when creating syncd directory doesn't handle .config existance.
   json_object_from_file: error opening file /root/.config/syncd/rules.json: No such file or directory
   json_object_to_file: error opening file /root/.config/syncd/rules.json: No such file or directory
   Segmentation fault (core dumped). If .config exits no segfault...

3. rules file exists, but starts reporting errors and no browser..
   Loading gdrive plugin from /usr/lib/syncd/libsyncgdrive.la
   json_object_from_file: error opening file /home/denz/.config/syncd/config.json: No such file or directory
   json_object_from_file: error opening file /home/denz/.config/syncd/config.json: No such file or directory
   Paste code here
   xdg-open: unexpected argument '2'
   Try 'xdg-open --help' for more information.

Before release, you'd better get rid of pasting code through the terminal, it would be reasonable to spawn a window or something. Because syncd should be able to go daemon quietly.

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback, I tested on ubuntu, so I will have to get a base debian install.
Pasting from the terminal is only supposed to happen when it cannot load a browser. In your case it looks like the xdg-open command syntax got messed up. I will be working on these issues and post an update.

Oh don't worry about install, it was also ubuntu 14.04, but absolutely clean. Your distro which you install will have at least ubuntu-minimal or even ubuntu-desktop, so they'll like have the package pre-installed. I've used docker container of ubuntu... So the lib should be dependent in your dsc file, check ldd for syncd you will see it.
