ERC-20 and ERC-721 are both Ethereum token standards, but they serve very different purposes.

ERC-20: Fungible Tokens - All tokens are identical and interchangeable
ERC-721: Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) - Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
