The Nanoscale

The purpose of the “Nanoscale” Sonaphor is to support listeners to grasp the scale we are working at throughout the sonaphor series. Scale is relevant for all branches of science, as it is crucial for understanding the “immense size of the cosmos, the minute size of molecules, and the enormous age of the earth” (American Association for the Advancement of Science, 1993: pp 276). Despite its importance, immense differences in magnitude are extremely challenging to truly comprehend (Resnick et al., 2017) - hence the need to explore its comprehension through sound.
