Multiple values for daily elements

This is an issue we discussed in our recent meeting. I am posting it here for record purposes.

Climsoft v4 allows multiple entries (duplicates or triplicates etc) for a given day in the daily elements. These are typically entered against different hours of the day.

• If the multiple values are identical ,only the entry recorded against the appropriate hour should be retained. However there is currently not an easy way to do this in Climsoft.
• If the values differ, users must check against manual records to determine the correct value and whether it is recorded against the appropriate hour.

Correcting these entries currently requires deleting the duplicated records for that period and station {in both tables} and then re-entering the correct data - which is inefficient and error-prone.

These issues can be prevented by restricting data entry against a defined hour of the day for the respective country.

This problem was raised by staff from MSD (Zimbabwe). It was discussed in the Climsoft web meeting arranged for MSD, on 17 September. The Climsoft team agreed this was an urgent problem for solution by them. They also reported having solved a similar issue for Rwanda Met recently.
Has the problem for MSD now been resolved? Please could details be reported here, as they could help, if further Met services have a similar problem.
