Adding .github directory to package

I have an internal package that we would like to include the .github folder in the archive file. However, it appears that something within the removal of version control related folders is also removing this folder.

Is this a bug, or is there an option I am missing to allow the .github folder to be included?

Light-weight distribution packages

Some useless information like the .github directory, or large examples, test data, etc. should typically not be included in distributed packages.

The .gitattributes file is a git specific file like .gitignore also living at the root directory of your library. It overrides local and global configuration (.git/config and ~/.gitconfig respectively) when present and tracked by git.

Use .gitattributes to prevent unwanted files from bloating the zip distribution packages.

Test it by inspecting the zip file generated manually:

git archive branchName --format zip -o file.zip

This is likely the answer, but we won't know for sure without having access to the actual repository.

I would suggest executing the last command of that excerpt to see if the git export itself works.

Yes, that appears to be the answer. I didn't expect my .gitattributes file to already have this entry.

I plan to verify this change tomorrow.
