Anyway to remove the on-hover labels for a Plot?

When moving over a plot background, I don't want a hover tip window at all. But I don't see a way to remove it. All i have found is advice like "send in an empty string" but then you get a "stub window" trailing the cursor around. Any ideas anyone?
