Release 2.0.3 breaks Python 2.7 Support

The function annotations added in 2.03 break Python 2.7 compatibility. Yes, we should all be off 2.7 by now, but alas...

I'm just reporting this to make you aware, in case you want to either defer removing Python 2.7 compatibility to a major release, or at least update the Python compatibility chart on PyPi.

Python 2.7 should indeed no longer be used. But if it only breaks because of two type annotations that I simply copied from their original location, than that is a stupid way to break compatibility.

I have made PR #215 to fix it.

I looked into it and merged the fix. I also made some small adjustments, so it is easier to run tox with Python 2.7 like this:

uvx -p python3.9 --with setuptools,"virtualenv<20.22.0" "tox<4"

I guess this will be the last release for Python 2.7. We should fix the pkg_resource namespace deprecation soon and it looks like there is no way to do that while still supporting 2.7.
