Godot 4 currently lacks a built-in motion blur effect, even though it’s an essential feature for realistic and cinematic visuals. I tried to implement it manually using shaders and post-processing, but without access to per-pixel motion data (velocity buffer), it’s almost impossible to achieve proper results.
Suggestion:
It would be amazing to have Motion Blur as a built-in feature in WorldEnvironment under the post-processing section, with settings like:
Blur strength (Intensity)
Sample count
Motion direction/vector
Ability to toggle it via code
This would greatly enhance the sense of speed and realism in racing, shooter, and action games, making motion appear smoother and more cinematic.
