What depths are represented by the layers in soil_layers_stag?

I am interested in using the soil moisture (SMOIS) variable and I see that it has a depth dimension. The values are [0, 1, 2, 3] and no units are provided. I am wondering what depths these represent.

@jds485 There are two variables that provide information about the soil layers, DZS and ZS. The DZS variable contains the thicknesses of the soil layers in meters. The ZS variable contains the depths of the centers of the soil layers in meters.
