Problem with Autograding

Expected behavior

The code is correct, so it should give the student the total number of points for that assignment.

Actual behavior

The student gets 0 points, but no error is shown.
There is a student that got all the points for this assignment, with an almost identical code. That puzzles me even more.
I tried to manually execute the code and no error appears

Yes, I have the same problem. randomly students get no points for things that don't throw an error. Additionally the notebooks are marked with "needs manual grading".

This was a silly mistake on my end: I had given the cell a maximum of 0 points. I have different issues clearly...

Very strange. If someone can provide a minimal working example that would be very helpful in debugging.

A problem I ran into was that students duplicated a cell, which duplicated the cell id (or grade id, can't remember). Nbgrader says the notebook is faulty, without telling what's wrong. Later, I figured out there is the "validate" command, which tells you more, but in some cases, even that tool failed to report the duplicated cell id. So maybe this is the problem of the OP.

However, the output of the autograde tool is extremely limited. Incorporating the more verbose output of the validate tool would be extremely useful I think.
