I have been working on bitmap and btree benchmarks to detect performance regressions and it seems this was timely as I found #5409 which is a serious regression in bitmap index performance.

It would be good to get #5372 in before a final v1.0.0 or v.1.1.0 release, as it would be a breaking change for upstream users.
