Cloudflare tunnel with DDEV and WordPress

I am trying to set up a Cloudflare tunnel for my DDEV site but I keep getting a 502 error. I am following the named tunnel method described in this blog post : https://leolutz.dev/blog/ddev-and-cloudflare-tunnel/. My website is built with WordPress, in case that is relevant. The tunnel is configured to direct site.mydomain.com to my DDEV site which is at https://wp1.ddev.site/ on my host machine. I have also set the HTTP Host Header in the tunnel configuration to wp1.ddev.site.

I’m not sure what I’m missing that’s causing the 502 error. Other non-DDEV local apps work fine through the same tunnel, so it seems specific to this setup. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

WordPress is very relevant - it wires the URL into the database, so you'd have to use the techniques in https://docs.ddev.com/en/stable/users/topics/sharing/ to make it work I think. That doc explains what's going on with WordPress (and with Magento)

Thanks for the quick reply, I have already configured those variables and did a find/replace in the DB, I don't think it recognizes the .ddev.site domain , here is my cloudflare container log: 2025-09-29T16:07:45Z ERR Request failed error="Unable to reach the origin service. The service may be down or it may not be responding to traffic from cloudflared: dial tcp 127.0.0.1:443: connect: connection refused" connIndex=3 dest=https://site.mydomain.com/favicon.ico event=0 ip=198.41.192.77 type=http

https://wp1.ddev.site is not reachable for the tunnel, I tried to se the network for the tunnel container to be "ddev_default" but that did't work either. also pointing the tunnel to the running localhost https://127.0.0.1:62876 or http://127.0.0.1:62877 which ddev allocated for the current application but no luck with those either

No, you can't use .ddev.site in cloudflare, because it resolves to 127.0.0.1

You'll need to use the direct-access port, as it seems like you tried to do. Proxying WordPress is very hard.
