Remove the mention of my username from commit message

In the description of commit message of commit e2cfa8, my username is @-mentioned.

Now, whenever someone syncs their fork with this repo, the @-mention gets repeated in their fork, and I get an email notification. I cannot find any way to disable email notifications for only that particular mention, and I don't want to disable notification for every mention.

Till now, I have got more than 100 such emails. There seems to be ways to edit past commit messages, but I don't know what would be the proper way to handle this.

I hope this can be resolved.

Editing past commit message will break the commit history.

Have you tried contacting GitHub Support (https://support.github.com/request)?

I'm sympathetic to the issue, I've faced the same problem from commits that reference my username. My solution has been to filter my email for the commit messages in question.

I've also upvoted the community discussion that @muzimuzhi pointed out above. This is a Github wide issue.
