Python: protocol not supported

Some Bristol machines cause jobs to fail, with no STDOUT, and only the following in the STDERR:

#!/usr/bin/env:  python: Protocol not supported

The current theory is that certain machines do not support python (?!) - perhaps bse*.phy.bris.ac.uk

It may be useful to (temporarily) add a machine filter to jobs to avoid this?

nah, bse nodes support python:
[root@bse05 ~]# /usr/bin/env python

But a machine filter is useful anyway for various purposes.
