Authentication for clients without GitHub accounts?

Hi! I build websites for clients who don't have GitHub accounts. With Decap CMS + Netlify, I could use Netlify Identity so clients authenticated via Gmail/email without needing GitHub accounts.
Now that Netlify Identity is being deprecated, I'm exploring Sveltia CMS but it seems to require GitHub accounts for all content editors. I've read through the docs but couldn't find clarification on this.
Question: What's your vision for authentication in Sveltia CMS? Will there be support for clients to edit content without GitHub accounts, or is direct GitHub authentication fundamental to the architecture?

Migrating from Git Gateway backend

If you want to stay with Netlify Identity, unfortunately you can’t migrate to Sveltia CMS right now. We plan to develop an alternative to Git Gateway and Netlify Identity Widget in the future.

Features not to be implemented

Netlify Identity Widget: It’s not useful without Git Gateway, and the Netlify Identity service itself is now deprecated. We plan to develop an alternative solution with role support in the future, most likely using Cloudflare Workers and Auth.js.

Sveltia CMS Additions: edge functions providing features that require server-side implementation, including user management (Netlify Identity alternative), roles, commits without a Git service account (Git Gateway alternative), API key management, post locking (like WordPress) and scheduled posts

Thank you so much, and I'm sorry, I could have found this myself.
It's great that it's possible to authenticate with a PAT! I'm wondering, would it be possible to go back to the authentication page once you provide a non-functioning PAT? Currently, it just tells you that you don't have access and even after deleting cache, you can't go back to the login page.

Ah, I’m aware of the bug, but forgot to fix it earlier. Will fix it shortly.
