Experimental autodetection issues

As of Ultrawidify 6.4.0, ultrawidify's autodetection got rewritten ... again.

In early 2026, the currently-experimental autodetection will become the default. Until then, I'm collecting problems. This thread is aimed at two types of problems:

• incorrect cropping
• performance issues

In order for your report to be useful, please make sure your comment contains all the necessary info. Here's what I deem to be necessary info:

Incorrect cropping

If you're reporting an issue with experimental autodetection not cropping correctly, please include the following.

• browser version
• OS version
• addon version
• link to the video (if publicly accessible), with timestamp if possible
• screenshot of the incorrect crop
• screenshot of the uncropped video

Performance issues

• browser version
• OS version
• addon version
• link to the video (if publicly accessible). If performance issues happen at a specific timestamp, include timestamp as well
• Screenshot — or, better yet, video recording — of performance charts.

How to get performance charts

You can get performance charts by opening the settings window and checking the show developer options checkbox:

Then, click the show debug overlay button and close the settings window:

Hover your mouse on the top:

I want screenshots or videos with the Detailed performance analysis visible. If necessary, zoom with Ctrl + until text is readable on video.
