New to teslamate, Downloaded the repo but not enough instructions telling how to actually build and test

I was able to download the repo, and also do a make teslamate
but not clear how to actually complete the testing? Are there pointers in the site that I'm missing?

Thanks Brian. I wrote some home grown python script and attempting to connect to the teslafleet API's. I ran into tesla mate and thought I'll check this out.

This is probably there somewhere, but once i got the stuff to compile for Linux, I didn't know how to launch and test the interfaces.
Is teslamate only for analytics? or does it have control functions too like setting temp etc?

If there is a better getting started guide (quite possibly I missed that) would be great.
