Unique device id?

Hey,

I have the TheengsGateway running on two different systems to read Bluetooth sensors.
Both gateways send the data to the same MQTT broker.

I noticed that the two gateways, even though they're on two different devices, are interfering with each other.

Can I specify a unique ID in the parameters to prevent this from happening again?

I start the gateways via a systemd service and pass the parameters directly with exec. So, I don't use a configuration file.

Just change every occurrence of "TheengsGateway" of one instance to something else, like "MyOtherTheengsGateway" in its theengsgw.conf

I've already tried that. Unfortunately, no success.
I noticed that the gateway isn't sending a client name. How can I configure this?

The client name is empty.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I have two instances of Theengs Gateway running like that and they both appear under their individual entries with their published MQTT messages under the home topic.

When i look in my log, i see:

Client [] publishOnSubscribe send all known states
The Client has no name...

Other devices have a name, eg..

Client [WZHN_living] connected with secret 1745411943207_7394

And my both gateways have no name.
That causes the problems

Ah!
In the File "ble_gateway.py" i found:

self.client = mqtt_client.Client(mqtt_client.CallbackAPIVersion.VERSION2)

when i changed it to:

self.client = mqtt_client.Client( client_id="Test", callback_api_version=mqtt_client.CallbackAPIVersion.VERSION2, )

The name “test” is successfully used to log in to the broker.

Can't you change this so that you can specify a client ID in the configuration file?

I'm already on it ;) I have used the already existing above mentioned "discovery_device_name" from the config file.

Are you using pip installations?
