document.getElementsByTagName('button'); 은 HTMLCollection을 반환합니다.

document.querySelector(selector); 는 NodeList를 반환합니다.

이 둘의 차이점은 무엇일까요?

둘다 똑같습니다. 차이점이 있다면 아래와 같습니다.

The main difference between an HTMLCollection and a NodeList is that one is live and one is static.

새로운 노드가 추가됐을때 HTMLCollection는 인식하지만 NodeList은 인식하지 못합니다.
