Bootstrap and webpack

I am studying the bootstrap documentation, I am now in this part bootstrap and webpack. Long story short is that if I run npm start in my project folder in cmd and check http://localhost:8888/ in my browser I get this error

This is the snapshot of my variables-dark.scss file see line 11 where the error is caught

but the truth is the variable $primary is well defined in line 303 on my variables.scss file. This is the first 500 lines of my variables.scss file also check line 496 in this file

Sorry I can't put the whole code of my variables.scss file.

I ask Copilot it says make sure you import the variables.scss file before you import the variables-dark.scss file but that is exactly what I did in my bootstrap.scss file see the snapshot below in line 6 the line 7

I have done everything right or at least I think so, but still get the error, it is so sad and so frustrating, help me fix this problem

I don't know if you're aware of that but we got a Bootstrap with Webpack example available to start from. Maybe you could create a StackBlitz env from that to replicate the error.
I can see that you're using @use. Have you tried to use @import instead like it's suggested in the documentation?

Do you suggest that the error "$primary is not defined" is connected with using @use

It's a bit difficult to say without a reproducible environment, but the issue seems related to the order of imports—perhaps variables.scss isn't being imported early enough. Since @use isn't the preferred way of importing Sass files at the moment, I suggested switching back to @import to rule out @use as the cause of the problem.

Hello @julien-deramond .This is My StackBlitz Project but here I haven't removed @import yet because I had to run npm install again. If you are going to come late on replying this maybe I would have already replaced @import with @use

Based on your Bootstrap and Webpack Repository:

• You modified node_modules so you have to rm -rf node_modules first
• Then you can npm i to install the regular packages
• In styles.scss you need to @import "bootstrap/scss/bootstrap"; instead of using @use
• Then, if you run npm run build and render the index.html in your browser, it works well

When you run npm run start the deprecation warnings from Sass can appear in the browser. In that case, you'll need to check how to ignore/silent these warnings via webpack.

@julien-deramond it worked, no more errors, no more warnings, but configuring the webpack.config.js to suppress the warnings wasn't easy at all and I still had to use the @use in one place that was in the styles.scss file. I mean by configuring the webpack.config.js I managed to suppress the deprecation warning caused by using @import in every other file, but the warning came again because I was using @import in my styles.scss file so I used @use there.
