If we switch to DataCite DOIs ufal/clarin-dspace#1181 we can also simply use the DataCite Badge. Not a direct replacement, but practically free and maybe good enough?

I don't think this is about our usage of DOI. So I'd say:

• display the badge when an item has a DOI (minted by the repo, that's probably dc.identifier.uri but need to check)
• make them appear by default, with a config option that disables it.
