How to easily move camera closer (without increasing focal length/zoom)?

I am using the Box filter to select a small subset of a physically large simulation box. However, the bounding box and default camera do not change after applying Box.

Is there a way to zoom in by moving the camera closer to the Box-selected region, without increasing the focal length of the camera? (I want to avoid this because when it does a zoom, camera rotation becomes more twitchy and less intuitive, particularly when scalable rendering is on and there's no real-time rendering as I move the mouse.)

In the View Window (Controls->View), under the advanced tab you can try "View based on: Actual Spatial Extents)

This will use the actual bounds of your data to set the view
