I'm interested in this improvement. The netstat command (net-tools package) is not installed by default on recent versions of Debian, so making this test work with the ip command would be great and improve compatibility with modern systems. |

This adds the 'ip' command for retrieving the default gateway, in addition to netstat. The core logic was taken from PR #1528 by xezpeleta.
This resolves #1527.
