Stagger

Stagger creates diagonal layouts and leaning tower effects by adding progressive horizontal or vertical offsets to your grid.

What is Stagger?

Stagger adds an offset that accumulates across your grid:

  • Horizontal stagger (X/Y) — Creates diagonal patterns
  • Vertical stagger (ZX/ZY) — Creates leaning tower effects

Controls

Action Default Key Description
Activate Stagger Y (hold) Enable stagger mode
Increase Stagger Scroll Up or NumPad 8 (while holding Y) More offset
Decrease Stagger Scroll Down or NumPad 5 (while holding Y) Less offset
Cycle Axis NumPad 0 (while holding Y) Switch X → Y → ZX → ZY

Stagger Axes Explained

Horizontal Stagger

  • X Stagger — Each row shifts sideways
  • Y Stagger — Each column shifts forward/backward

Vertical Stagger (Lean)

  • ZX Stagger — Tower leans sideways as it rises
  • ZY Stagger — Tower leans forward/backward as it rises

Step-by-Step Examples

Diagonal Conveyor Path

  1. Select a foundation hologram
  2. Scale to 6×1 (NumPad 8 five times)
  3. Hold Y to enter stagger mode
  4. Press NumPad 0 to select Y axis
  5. Scroll to add 8m Y stagger
  6. Place — foundations form a diagonal line!

Leaning Tower

  1. Select a foundation hologram
  2. Scale to 1×1×8 (NumPad 9 seven times)
  3. Hold Y to enter stagger mode
  4. Press NumPad 0 until ZX is selected
  5. Scroll to add 0.5m ZX stagger
  6. Place — tower leans to the side!

Tips

  1. Small values for lean — 0.25m to 1m creates subtle lean
  2. Large values for diagonals — Match foundation size for 45° angles
  3. Combine with Steps — Stagger + Steps = spiral patterns
  4. Check stability — Leaning structures may look unstable (but work fine!)
  5. Use Smart! Panel — Press K to type exact stagger values for all 4 axes
