Steps

📸 [Placeholder: Staircase or ramped foundation grid]

Steps mode creates vertical stepping patterns — each item in your grid rises (or falls) by a set amount. Perfect for stairs, ramps, and tiered factory floors.

What is Steps?

Steps adds a vertical offset that accumulates across your grid:

  • Step = 0.5m on X axis → Each column rises 0.5m higher than the previous
  • Step = -1m on Y axis → Each row drops 1m lower than the previous

Controls

Action Default Key Description
Activate Steps I (hold) Enable steps mode
Increase Step Scroll Up or NumPad 8 (while holding I) More rise per item
Decrease Step Scroll Down or NumPad 5 (while holding I) Less rise per item
Cycle Axis NumPad 0 (while holding I) Switch X → Y

Step-by-Step Example

Building a Foundation Staircase

  1. Select a foundation hologram
  2. Scale to 8×1 (NumPad 8 seven times)
  3. Hold I to enter steps mode
  4. Scroll up to set 1m step
  5. Release I and place

You now have an 8-foundation staircase rising 1m per step!

X vs Y Steps

  • X Steps — Rise/fall along the width (columns)
  • Y Steps — Rise/fall along the depth (rows)

Use NumPad 0 while holding I to switch between axes.

Common Step Values

Use Case Suggested Step
Standard stairs 1m
Gentle ramp 0.5m
Steep ramp 2m
Half-foundation steps 0.5m

Tips

  1. Combine with Spacing — Steps + Spacing = ramped rows with gaps
  2. Use negative values — Create descending stairs
  3. Match foundation height — 1m step = standard foundation height
  4. Check the HUD — Step values display in real-time
  5. Use Smart! Panel — Press K to type exact step values

Related Features

  • Scaling — Create grids to step
  • Spacing — Add gaps between stepped items
